More than 400 members of City of Hope’s National Home Furnishings Industry gathered at the 18th annual West Coast Golf and Tennis Tournament to honor Jake Jabs, president and chief executive officer of American Furniture Warehouse, with City of Hope’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

5/29/2009 - City of Hope presents data on novel combination therapy, geriatric cancer care and prostate cancer mortality at 2009 ASCO Annual Meeting

City of Hope researchers are presenting data from more than 30 studies on cancer biology, treatment and survivorship at the 2009 Annual Meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) in Orlando, running from May 29 through June 2.

5/15/2009 - $12 Million in Support Names City of Hope’s Graduate School of Biological Sciences, Establishes Visiting Professorship

A $5 million gift from the firm, matched by a $5 million anonymous gift, will rename the school as the Irell & Manella Graduate School of Biological Sciences.  Another $2 million from the firm will create the Irell & Manella Visiting Professorship.

City of Hope’s National Office Products Industry will present Jack G. Truong, Ph.D., vice president, 3M, with The Spirit of Life® Award on September 24, 2009, at the Chicago Hilton.

4/27/2009 - Children’s cancer survivorship bill introduced

Today, City of Hope applauded Congresswoman Jackie Speier (12th District-CA) and Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (45th District-CA) for their introduction of the “Childhood Cancer Survivorship Research and Quality of Life Act of 2009,” which lays the foundation for increased awareness and federal funding strategies to address the long-term health care needs of childhood cancer survivors.
